Director Biography - Karl Lee

Karl Lee is a talented filmmaker with a passion for directing, cinematography, editing, and animation. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Shanghai, graduated from University of British Columbia in Vancouver BC; he now calls Toronto his home. Karl is constantly seeking to expand his knowledge and expertise in these areas, always striving to improve his craft. In addition to his filmmaking pursuits, Karl is also pursuing his pilot's license as he has always been fascinated by planes and believes that flying will open up new opportunities for his career.

Karl has had some unique experiences that have played a significant role in shaping his character and worldview. He spent four months living at the Shaolin temple, where he gained valuable insights and learned from the discipline and spirituality found within. Additionally, he attended military school for a semester, further enriching his perspective on the world.

Throughout his career, Karl has achieved recognition for his work, having won awards such as Best Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Producer for his apprenticeship in the Cities of Love initiative. These accolades highlight his talent, dedication, and commitment to his craft.

Reticent is one of his latest projects.
