Director Statement

We witness terrifying statistics about Russian transgender people and LGBT community in general, and no one is talking about it. 9 out of 10 transgender people are refused a job. 7 out of 10 transgender people face abuse or hear slurs on a daily basis. 6 out of 10 transgender people have problems at college or university because of their identity. Many transgender people in Russia cannot get proper medical help, because clinics don't want to deal with transgender people.

This project is made to create a safe dialogue between Russian and American LGBT communities. Queer struggle is universal, and this is why these five stories are important to listen to for everyone. It is made for everyone who has ever faced injustice because of the identity or sexual preferences. It is made to not give up and continue fighting for your rights and your voice.

I hope that this project will help queer people realize that they're never alone, and that there are always people who they can talk to, even if they're on another side of the planet.
