Ren X. Zheng is an aspiring writer/director based in L.A. Ren’s film works carry a mystical tone and surrealist fantastical theme with enthralling visuals, and gorgeous production design with classical aesthetics. Ren wrote and directed Escargot (11 mins), won Best Indie Short at IndieX Film Fest and Best Student Film, Grand Jury Awards and New York International Film Awards in 2021, also screened at Producer’s Club in NYC. Her following work, Exquisite Cadaver (15min, 2022), portrays a psychic automatism about creating a bizarre and intuitive drawing. Her upcoming project, The Death of Jade, a young boy’s corpse found by the sea without organs in it, in pre-production. Ren is currently working as an editor and colorist, pursuing an MFA degree at the USC School of Cinematic Art.
