Director Statement

Artists are keepers of culture, and through my art I seek to explore and highlight the beauty and diversity of my culture. The inspiration for this film comes from my own childhood. I like many little girls, took dance classes growing up. The strongest memory I have of dancing is being surrounded by community. This was my earliest example or memory of the beauty that is Black sisterhood. I think this image is something so rarely seen but so impactful and worthy of being captured on film.
