Director Biography - Polaris Banks

Driven to become a director from the age of 7, Polaris voraciously shot practice shorts and features to learn as much as he could throughout his childhood. He's since shifted to devoting multiple years to one single ambitious production at a time to push what he's able to accomplish independently. Polaris is proficient in several filmmaking art forms, his most common contributions being editing, directing, writing, and acting, though he's heavily involved in the cinematography, sound design, art design, and color correction of his own projects as well. He prefers to create high concept genre films with a humorous edge, wanting more than anything to give audiences the giddy thrills they felt going to the movies in their youth.

Director Statement

This project is my life. I've pretty much cleared everything else away to devote myself to it completely. With my last film "Casey Jones," my biggest disappointment was that I didn't have enough money to do it justice. So I vowed to never make those compromises again. It's my lifelong dream to make a theatrical quality movie, but I couldn't bear to hang my hopes on someone else MAYBE giving me approval to do it one day. So instead of making a 2 million dollar 120 minute feature, I divided by ten and made a $200,000 12 minute short. It took me five years of doing back to back research studies and living out of a car to save that much on my own, but I was happy to do it. If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, I can die in peace knowing I was able to leave behind something I was truly proud of. And if I get the feature version made someday, (hopefully from a generous investor reading this right now) that's just gravy.
