Rejected Again

Nevil Kwitt has an awkward encounter with a beautiful waitress, Iris Wilona. So Nevil begins to imagine weird and bizarre ways he can win over her heart. However, he believes that he will never be good enough to be with somebody like her so he imagines different scenarios where he is someone “better” but still ends up failing. Each scenario is more chaotic than the last, rising to the point where Iris gives him a thunderous slap, throwing him back into the real world. Iris returns with the coffee. She sees Nevil for who he really is and decides to ask him out, proving that you don’t need to change yourself for others.

Director Statement

The message that I want to be absorbed by the viewers of the film is that, you do not have to change yourself in any way to find love, acceptance and relationships. This message will be displayed through the dialogue, performances and various aspects that affect the style, mood and tone of the film. These aspects include the lighting. The film will be divided into two sections, the parts where Nevil Kwitt Imagines ways he can get Iris Wilona’s heart, and the real world. The lighting for these different sections of the film will contrast each other. In the real world the lighting will be high key and warm. Lighting ratios will be 2:1 to 4:1, giving this section a lighter feel to it, a more comfortable and welcoming tone. But the When Nevil starts to imagine, the lighting becomes low key, where lighting ratios are 4:1 to 8:1, but the comedic style is still maintained. An example of this lighting will be Hangover, where the lighting has a lot of contrast but it serves as a comedic device. This section will be more passionate, mysterious and flamboyant. The comedic style that this film will have been going to be shown through the bizarre scenarios the characters will be in, the contrast of light and wardrobe between the real world and Nevil’s imagination and the over the top performances the actors will give. Giving the film a goofy and light hearted feeling.
