Director Statement

I have always been fascinated by the human mind. Every day, millions of people live with variations of mental illnesses which they might be oblivious of. Thankfully, mental health is becoming as important as physical health and maybe even more so.

My most personal experience with mental illness was a nervous breakdown I had in 2016 while preparing for my exams. I had not been sleeping or eating well and soon enough I started to hallucinate that some of my friends were trying to kill me. Fortunately, after some rest and a conversation with a friend who was studying psychology at the time, i realised i was stressed.

This film is a look into how mental illness can affect our lives on such a visceral level that it almost ruins the relationships we cherish. As much as Reflections is a psychological drama, it is also a love story. Our character coming to terms with her illness allows her to move forward with her personal life.
