The International Reel Youth Film Festival is screened across Canada and internationally, in partnership with established film festivals, youth media organizations, schools, and community groups. The Nelson stop of the festival will take place at The Civic Theatre during youth week on Wednesday, May 2. The program will feature films that are part of the international festival as well as local content. We are accepting entries from the youth of the Kootenays to screen along side the international entries at the Nelson leg of the festival on May 2.

There is the option to also submit your film to the international touring component of the Reel Youth Festival, if you are wanting to submit to this as well, your entry must be no longer than 10 minutes. All video footage and audio in your submitted film must be original, or you must have permission to use it. If you are not looking to submit your film to the touring festival, the absolute maximum run-time is 12 minutes.

I really enjoyed the festival. It was great to see so much dedication and effort from the volunteers who made it happen. Great hospitality, and the films were professionally presented. The aftershow Q and A with the local young film makers was a good opportunity to share ideas and connect with others in the community. I look forward to next year and hope many people will come out and support it.
