Recalculating

Young Russian couple moved to Yerevan after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia on September 21, 2022. Four months later young man finally gets his reservation from mobilization and is going to return back to Moscow, whereas his girlfriend decides to stay in a foreign but free country, despite the situation in Artsakh. This decision inevitably leads them to break up.

Director Biography - Dima Yuzbashev

Born in 1983.
Citizen of the Republic of Armenia.
In 2005 graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University, department of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics.
2005 - 2007 worked in marketing and advertising creative business.
In 2008 began to work in TV-commercial production business as a line producer and 1st assistant director.
In 2009 attended internship in UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television (film producing course and directing basics program).
In 2012 made debut short film "Blind Fate".
In 2015-2017 studied at the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors (master - Vladimir Menshov).
Since 2017 have been shooting TV-commercials as a director.
From 2015 to 2023 had shot several short films and written two feature film scripts.
In 2023 shot his latest to date anti-war short film “Recalculating”.

Director Statement

This film is dedicated to two specific topical events of recent years: the war between Russia and Ukraine and Azerbaijan's blockade of Artsakh. This film is about how these wars cripple and destroy families, what choices everyone who is connected with these countries has to make, and what changes the lives of innocent people undergo as a result of these events.
