As an actor, Elijah’s credits include the Mark Wahlberg feature “Patriots Day” (CBS Films/Lionsgate), as well as “Law & Order: SVU”, “The Blacklist” (NBC), “Power” (Starz), and recurring roles on “High Maintenance” (HBO) and opposite Adam Brody on “StartUp” (Netflix/Crackle). Elijah is a graduate of the Harvard/American Repertory Theater MFA Acting Institute, UC Berkeley’s English and Theater BA programs, American Conservatory Theater’s Summer Training Conservatory, a literature residency at the University of Cambridge, and the Upright Citizens Brigade Improv Academy.
We all want to be famous. Deep down, the modern-day social media influencer shares a lot of DNA with the classic film stars of old. This is where the inspiration for READY FOR MY
CLOSE-UP came from.
As we make this ode to obsession, my team and I are inspired by, of course, Sunset Boulevard and its themes of delusional Hollywood glory – but we’re also hoping to craft a uniquely horrific and satirical surrealist tale, in the vein of The Twilight Zone’s “Sixteen Millimeter Shrine”, David Lynch’s “Mulholland Drive", and Hitchcock’s "Vertigo".
Overall, I believe that the desire for attention and affirmation can live in an uncanny and disturbing place… and I hope that this short will shock viewers into this realization as well!
