Please read these rules and regulations carefully before completing the submission form.
The goal of the Rastafest Film & Video Festival is to boost the local and international Rastafarian and Reggae film industry, encourage more local productions and showcase of Rastafarian content, and to enhance the vitality of Rastafarian filmmaking by showcasing vibrant films to educate an engaged and supportive community audience.
The inaugural Rastafest Film & Video Festival will run in Toronto from Wednesday, August 19th to Friday, August 21st, 2015.
Submissions must be received no later than July 1st, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Early submissions are encouraged.
1. A selection committee will view all eligible submissions. All decisions by the selection committee are final.
2. Submitting a film does not mean that it will automatically be selected for participation in the upcoming Rastafest Film & Video Festival. Only those films selected by the selection committee shall be screened.
3. FILMS THAT HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AND SELECTED MAY NOT BE WITHDRAWN FROM THE FESTIVAL. Once selected, no film may be withdrawn from the program during the festival. Invited films may only be shown in the festival’s theatre until the festival has officially closed.
1. The festival is open to local and national talents in scriptwriting, directing, producing, acting and music production with a focus on Reggae and Rastafarian culture.
2. The festival is open to all genres of documentaries, feature length films, and music videos.
3. Films and videos must be in English or have English sub-titles.
4. Incomplete entries are ineligible.
5. Must respect the goal of the festival as defined above.
Racist, pornographic and political propaganda films, as well as films based on unreasonable violence, are not eligible.
1. All submissions must be on NTSC standard.
2. We accept submissions in the following formats: .mov, .avi, DVCam, miniDV and DVD. We will consider links to files on YouTube, Vimeo etc. Provided that the file is downloadable and that a high-quality copy is available.
3. Preview materials will not be returned. You are welcome to pick up all preview materials in person after the festival.
4. Multiple entries are accepted but each entry must be accompanied by a separate form and submission file or disc.
5. All materials must contain only the film or video being submitted. Do not submit files or discs containing more than one entry or with material other than the film or video being submitted.
6. Preview materials must be labeled with title, running time and contact information.
7. The entrant is responsible for all shipping fees.
Entrants will be notified of acceptance, via email, by July 24, 2015.
If you submit a film or video, please send a B&W and/or colour still from the film to info@rastafest.com. The sooner you send photos the better chances they will be used in publicity materials.
If your film or video is selected, you will be asked to deliver a final screening copy by August 7th, 2015. You can also indicate that your preview copy be used for screening purposes. If a final copy is not received by August 7th, 2015 the festival will screen your preview copy.
