Radio Freedom
‘RADIO FREEDOM’ tells the story of an idealistic man turned ham radio operator trapped in a besieged city. He finds refuge in an improvised radio station where he reports the war and helps his fellow citizens connect with their loved ones outside the city. His struggle for survival leads him through the war torn streets where danger lurks from all sides.

‘RADIO FREEDOM’ is a gripping war drama of people trapped in a besieged city and doing their utmost best to survive the nightmare they’ve suddenly found themselves in. The movie depicts a global theme that is unfortunately still present in today’s world where millions of people in Ukraine are caught up in the war zone and millions more are on the move, desperately trying to reach a safe haven somewhere far away from it all. Being inspired by true stories makes ‘RADIO FREEDOM’ even more effective in creating an unforgettable journey through love, loss, despair and hope. Confronting, thought provoking and heart breaking ‘RADIO FREEDOM’ is a film based in reality and like real life it waivers between the highs and lows that we all as humans experience at some point of our life. As a war refugee myself I know firsthand how much impact these stories have on the audiences. That’s why the story of a war that took place in the heart of Europe not so long ago and shook up the whole world is still internationally appealing to wide audiences and has a great festival potential. This was also recognized by Dutch state film agency SEE NL which selected Radio Freedom for 'Selected Dutch Shorts 2021' as the best short of the year.
