Director Biography - Akili Brown

Akili Brown is the director of the Racist Roots film. He is a designer, actor, and director. As an alumnus of Howard University and Pratt Institute, he earned degrees in visual communications. At Atlantic Acting School he studied performance and storytelling.

He has been a designer, storyteller, and educator for over fifteen years. His partial client and project list includes organizations such as the Harlem Children’s Zone, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the Urban Assembly School of Music and Art, Oxford University Press, Disney, Freeform, Story District, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and The Center for Death Penalty Litigation.
