Rachelle (she/her) is a writer, director, and producer based in "vancouver" on the stolen and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations. She often writes about death, dying, grief and mental health with a dark comedic tone. As a director, she is drawn to telling stories about troubled people in absurd situations. Themes of time, loss, memory, and the challenges of having a human brain are explored in a naturalistic, tender and haunting way.
In 2022, her 30-minute dark comedy TV pilot "Dead Inside" was chosen as a part of the Women in TV and Film Emerging TV Producers Program and she wrote, directed, produced and edited her first short film "Zoe and Hannah Forever" in the same year. Her grounded sci-fi, dark comedy feature screenplay "Assistance in Dying" was selected as a top-ten finalist in the 2023 Women in TV and Film Vancouver International Screenplay competition and was a semi-finalist in the 2024 Table Read my Screenplay - Park City competition. In 2023 she was selected to be one of 15 emerging filmmakers in the VIFF Catalyst Program and recently completed her second short film "Untethered," premiering at the Chilliwack Independent Film Festival in November 2024.
