BRUCE ALAN JOHNSON (Director) is an award-winning photographer and documentary filmmaker based in New York City. He received his BFA in film production from the University of Iowa. While studying there, his love of cinematography led to a love for photography and he now travels the world shooting landscapes, architecture, candids, and portraits. Bruce’s photography has appeared around the world on the covers of and inside such publications as Incentive, Back Stage, The Daily Iowan, and Limin’ Times. Awards include the Grand Prize in the Daily Iowan’s annual photography contest and Lend a Lomo at NYC’s Center for Photography. Bruce edited and co-directed the award-winning documentary TRANSCENDING – THE WAT MISAKA STORY (winning the “Emerging Eye Directorial Discovery Award” from the Roving Eye Documentary Film Festival, the “Gold Kahuna Award” from the Honolulu International Film Festival, and chosen as official selections of the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Carmel Art and Film Festival, San Diego Asian Film Festival, Chicago Asian Film Festival, Rights Fest, and as the opening film of the Houston Asian American Film Festival). He also directed the short movie musical RIDING OUT THE STORM (winner, "Best Musical Film" from the New York International Film Awards, March 2024 edition, "Best Musical Film" from the Oniros Film Awards, April 2024 edition, "Best Director of a Musical" from the Best Actor and Director Awards, March-April 2024 edition, "Best Musical" from the Monza Film Festival, July-August 2024 edition, "Best Musical" from the Reale Film Festival, July -August 2024 edition, and official selection of the New York Shorts International film festival and Iowa Independent Film Festival, semi-finalist for the Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival), and the short film ALL AMERICAN EYES (“Audience Award” from the Waves International Film Festival).
