Anthony is an award-winning composer and the holder of Bachelor degree with a GPA of 3.97 from the New York Film Academy. His works are often centred heavily on metaphysical themes, the emotive nature of memories and the significant role of music as a character in narrative films. He specialises in social sci-fi commentary and drama that focuses on the contemporary issue of technology vs human intimacy, the crave of perfection vs the crush of reality.
As a filmmaker, Anthony has been involved in an array of projects, ranging from large scale SAG short films to commercials, web documentary and video essays. During his school years, he has already worked with union actors, DGA Assistant Director and professional sound mixers.
Anthony grew up in Hong Kong, classically trained as a violinist, but ultimately found his interest in film scoring and directing. As a violinist, he has been selected in the Asian Youth Orchestra twice, playing with acclaimed musicians such as Steven Isserlis and Sarah Chang. Upon his reunion with the orchestra in 2017, he produced and shot a web documentary on the musicians in the orchestra, from which he constantly cited it as one of his most vivid and crucial experience in life.
During his years in film school, he provides original film scores for his fellow schoolmates, often working without pay and compensation. Eventually, his works have received recognition and he is the winner of the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards November 2017.
Anthony graduated high school with an outstanding score in his International Baccalaureate programme. He now resides in Los Angeles, currently in the midst of his OPT.
Music is a universal language, but it speaks differently to everyone. We either escape through it or embrace it. By personifying these two contrasting ideas, and juxtapose them together; it creates an interesting conflict for the story, which serves to raise a rather invigorating questions: There is no right or wrong in escaping or being nostalgic, the problem is to what extent do these 2 ways of thinking affect your relationships?
