Regência Augusta - The biggest environmental tragedy of Brazil

The colossal environmental tragedy of Brazil

“They doesn’t killed just the river, they killed my people, they killed me.”
Luciana, Vila Regencia School teacher.

On November 5th, 2015, the rupture of the Fundão dam, in Mariana, Minas Gerais, became the biggest environmental tragedy of Brazil. The tsunami of water and tailings went through more than 600 miles and reached the sea 17 days later.

Regencia Augusta, a 800 inhabitants small village located at the Rio Doce river cost, was one of the most affected regions.

The film, narrated by residents of the Regencia, reveal the human and economic impact of that tragedy, and explores the feeling of sadness and revolt of the population a day after the toxic mud devastated the landscape of the place.
