REED is an inspiring story about Omari, a remarkable young man who overcame the challenges of living with a disability. Abandoned by his mother due to his osteoporosis, Omari was rescued by a group of fishermen who welcomed him into their community and raised him as one of their own. Despite his physical limitations, Omari has become a skilled fisherman and a provider for his family. Through his journey, we discover the incredible strength and resilience of the human spirit. REED is a moving reminder that disability does not define a person's ability and that a supportive community can make all the difference.

Director Statement

As the Director of REED, I aimed to showcase Omari's inspiring journey from being abandoned due to his disability to finding a home with fishermen who raised him as one of their own. This film highlights the themes of disability, acceptance, and the societal impact on those who are differently-abled. Our hope was to create a visually stunning and emotionally compelling film that inspires viewers to appreciate the strength and determination of those living with disabilities. The performances, scenery, and soundtrack are all a testament to the powerful emotional resonance of Omari's story, and I believe this film will continue to inspire audiences long after watching it.

And I strongly believe that Disability is not inability.
