ATTENTION: Only the REC for Kids is open for submissions: Only filmmakers ages 6-15 may submit.

The international film festival for emerging filmmakers was founded in 1992 by film-loving young adults and teenagers. At the REC-Filmfestival Berlin, young filmmakers are given a platform to present their films to an audience, experience direct reactions to their work, and receive professional feedback from a jury. They can also make important contacts and friendships, as well as participate in exciting workshops.

The REC-Filmfestival Berlin is divided into two sections: REC for Kids (ages 6-15) and REC for Youth (ages 16-25) , thus covering two essential areas: media education for younger participants and the promotion of emerging talent for older participants. The theme, length, and style of the films are unrestricted. The professional quality of the films is not a factor. Rather, the festival aims to present a diverse mix of international films. On the final day of the festival, the jury awards prizes with a total value of €5,000.

• Films by young filmmakers aged 6 to 15 upon completion of the film can be submitted.
• The completion date must not be before 01.01.2024.
• All genres, themes and film lengths are permitted.
• There is no registration fee.
• The videos must be available for download. A link without a download option is not sufficient.
• Files for download must be submitted in HD standard (1080p, 1080i or 720p) in the h264 codec and must not exceed 100 MB per minute of film.
• Download links must be valid until the end of the festival.
• The download must be possible directly (possibly with a password), i.e., the download option must not be tied to registration of the REC-Filmfestival Berlin with a service provider (e.g. Dropbox).
• Since we are a festival with an international audience and we would like to forward your films to international festivals, we ask that you send us your films with English subtitles.
