Director Biography - Natalya Sharapova

Natalya is a Russian-Jewish filmmaker based in San Francisco. She is currently an MFA candidate at San Francisco State University where she directs films and teaches courses on filmmaking. 
During the past ten years, Natalya has directed experimental  and narrative shorts, produced several multimedia exhibitions, edited international cinema section at SEANCE film journal and watched lots of spectacular movies. Her documentary project - Forest Voices screened at several documentary festivals in Russia and her last experimental short RACE has just been selected for San Francisco Film Finals.

Director Statement

As a person originally coming from theoretical background, I’ve always admired how film is capable to reflect on things that can’t be verbalized. My artistic goal is to reveal via cinema the patterns one wouldn’t ever see with the naked eye.
