Director Biography - Emily Clark Gallagher

Emily Clark Gallagher is an actor, director, writer, and the Head of Creative at Manderfilm.

After growing up in a small rural town in Texas, she ran away to New York City and hasn’t looked back since. By day, she works as a finance journalist to keep up the appearance of “normalcy.” But in reality, Emily’s passion lies in creating unpretentious, grounded performances. This approach led her to directing, and *Quit Deacon Me Around* (her directorial debut) is the product of that journey—showcasing her ability to connect with actors while fostering creativity and collaboration behind the camera.

She’s incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of her fiancé, Brandon Manderville, and her cat, Gomez, just for existing.

Director Statement

The project began with a single phone call from Isaiah Rothstein—a fellow actor, friend, and hands-down the most prolific writer I’ve ever worked with. He pitched a simple idea: one conversation between an increasingly distressed man and a priest, shot in a makeshift confessional booth. Just one scene.
I called him back the next day and said, “Hey...I think we should hire a fight choreographer.”
Quit Deacon Me Around quickly became an experiment in blending wild absurdity with grounded character moments—because when the right creative people come together, chaos turns into something brilliant. At its core, this zany narrative about a demon possessing a conspiracy theorist to seduce a crypto-loving clergyman is a love letter to movie nerds, written by other movie nerds.
It’s about trusting the ridiculous, wrangling the chaos, and making something that surprises you. I hope it surprises you, too.
And yes, the title came from a dumb pun I made to make my crew laugh. Isaiah decided it was canon.

From the first phone call to the final frame, Quit Deacon Me Around has been a labor of love, mayhem, and laughs. I’m so excited to share it with you.
