This project started initially as a cosplay test when we realized putting a VR headset-like device on a soldier looked really cool and futuristic. We kept developing the lead character's kit while simultaneously writing a story around it, adapting a script idea I had several years ago about an attempted coup in a fictitious country, one where inevitably the superpowers of China, the US and Russia would have some hand in it. Like a lot of contemporary conflicts we wanted to depict how these nations have their toes dipped in the water of all these places with varying levels of instability, and how the notion of "covert" warfare in the future will get progressively more overt. The existence of drones, electronic warfare (EW), and the manipulation of social media and information has reached a point where even a very overt and loud airstrike in a crowded city will be obscured by the fog of disinformation and espionage.
