Queer Skate
Kate Thompson is a 22-year-old artist and organizer that found a love for skating. Though as she entered the skating world, they noticed the hyper-masculinity embroiled in the culture that caused a sense of discomfort being a queer woman. Instead of allowing for that to push her away from the sport, Kate founded Queer Skate Date -- an Instagram organization that hosts skating events that specifically cater to queer folk. Queer Skate Date has allowed for connections between people in the community all around California to learn and develop their skating skills in a safe space without judgment.

Angie Morales is a filmmaker currently based in Santa Cruz, California. She is a full-time student at the UC and is set to graduate in 2020. She believes that anything you make is political and representation in film should be prioritized. As a first generation Afro-Colombian immigrant woman, film has become a way to decipher her experiences and emotions. Angie explores themes of identity within her work that relate to the immigrant experience and ideas of “otherness”. Cinematography and editing are her favorite aspects of filmmaking, colors and lively aesthetics have become ways to commemorate her heritage and personal style within her work. Angie hopes to continue to make work that does not necessarily fit into a single genre, but instead fuses aspects from all over to hopefully create something unique.
