Doris V Walker is an upcoming Director who made her directorial debut with the Short Superstar. This is her next film that depicts a monarch illegally deposed in the Illegal Annexation of Hawaii
This movie touches the heart as we watch a woman struggle to regain control of her country while protecting her family. A time of prejudice and greed threaten to diminish the power of a woman of color, there are no other women of power or of color at this critical time in history and annexation threatens to discourage every person of color. The threat of being overpowered by a foreign entity overshadows the once-powerful Queen, she loses her country and Crown in a fight against a powerful enemy. Although the reason for taking her country was that she enforced the death penalty, thousands of Americans are put to death in the United States and have been historically. We can only reasonably presume that her country was taken because she was a woman of color and that was not part of the plan for a White dominated society. She was thrown in prison and the other family members were sent to different geographic locations she herself was exiled from the Island of Hawaii.
