Director Statement

This film was inspired by a well known religious story called Prophet Sulaiman or Solomon and the Angel of death. Solomon had a friend who used to regularly come to visit one of his court proceedings. In Islam, King Solomon is both a king and a prophet. His Kingdom was the most profound and most powerful ever. He commanded, the wind, everything seen and unseen with permission of Allah!

During one of these sessions, the Angel of Death entered the gathering. Upon seeing the angel, the young man's face turned yellow and he trembled with fear and he said, "O Prophet of Allah, I am afraid of this man, so order the wind to take me to the people of India."

Prophet Sulaiman did so. Shortly afterwards, the Angel of Death came to Prophet Sulaiman in amazement.

Prophet Sulaiman asked the Angel of Death why he was so astonished? then Angel of death replied that he had been ordered that day to take the soul of a young man that was in Prophet Sulaiman's company, but that it was to be taken while he was in the land of India.
The Angel of Death continued to explain that he was surprised to find him in Prophet Sulaiman's gathering though his soul was to be taken in India.

Prophet Sulaiman explained that upon seeing the Angel of Death, the young man became disturbed and wanted the wind to carry him away to India where of course death was waiting! In Islam, we are to travel to the destination of our death perfectly on time. I was always fascinated by this story and wanted to tell it.
