Director Biography - Perry Pang

Born in Hong Kong, Perry Pang was raised in Newport Beach, where he got his start in directing student films while being a district swimming champion and water polo player. He decided to commit to the art of filmmaking, and was accepted into New York University. After graduating with honors from NYU's Tisch Film School, Perry held stints at CAA, Sony Entertainment, and Paradigm to learn the back end of the business.

After an exciting experience in entertainment business, he returned to filmmaking and moved to Los Angeles to study the Meisner Technique. Since his studies, Perry directed and starred in Champion, a short film about a transgender soccer star which screened at the 2017 40th Asian American International Film Festival in NYC.

Director Statement

“Puppy Love” was inspired from the notion of holding onto one's past. If I done that instead of this, how would that affect my present? Or does it matter? I realized you cannot change the past but accept and learn from it. -Perry Pang, Los Angeles September 2019
