Allyssa Garcia, better known as "Yeng”, is a student
at Mapua University. Besides movies, she has a
deep appreciation for sitcoms, which later led her to
become a filmmaker. Her passion for comedy series
inspired her to write her debut mockumentary film,
“Don’t Touch the Bay-ags," which won an honorary
award at Gawad Alternatibo 2022. She has taken on
the roles of director, writer, and production designer.
She continues to edit comedy video clips and write
comedy screenplays that help her express her
quirkiness.
Growing up, watching comedy films and series has helped me understand and love myself; accepting how weird and quirky I am. I've also adapted to write comedic skits and shorts from watching them. Writing comedy scripts somehow comes to me smoothly but not to expect that I'd be focusing on family themes. As a challenge for me as a filmmaker, I want to feature the least represented type of families. I desire to make sure my film is for all despite the amusing lie the parents share. And I hope it will gain representation for children who grew up in a broken family as a mended therapy for them.
