Director Statement

This my first Feature length Documentary.

It is currently available for World Premier. Upon selection for any festivals that would take place before yours I will update this Statement and email your festival to let you know what next premier level is available.

I am currently adding a finished 5.1 version of the audio with a re-record of the final monologue and a touch-up pass on graphics. Otherwise the project is in full picture lock.

I come from a musical family and have played music my entire life. Most of the opening monologue-montage in this film features archival footage from my life and my fathers life, growing up and playing music.

This film became very self-aware naturally. The subject matter of DIY culture was being demonstrated by the process of making the low budget film itself.
This influenced my choice to insert myself into the film.

I shape the story with an ensemble cast. DIY culture lives within community and collaboration. So, just as each member of a community has something unique to contribute, so does each individual contributing to this film's greater whole.

I've wanted to explain for a long time to people what life as a musician feels like - what doing something creative just to do it is worth - what “punk rock” really means outside of the silly haircuts and leather jackets. This movie is for people of all ages. I want anyone to be able to watch, learn and appreciate a subject that has been misrepresented, commercialized and Idolized at the expense of local communities everywhere and new creative movements yet to come.

With no budget and a love for making things happen, I think we have really put together something special highlighting the power and impact of the DIY film and music community on society.
