Project 731
In the final days of World War II, Japan’s Unit 731 conducted one last experiment—one so terrifying that it was buried in history. Decades later, an abandoned underground facility is unearthed, releasing a horror never meant to see the light of day.
A team sent to investigate soon realizes that some secrets should stay forgotten. As the infection spreads and the dead rise, they must fight to stop a nightmare from consuming the world.
Was this a failed experiment, or was it always meant to be unleashed?

A director and writer from Taiwan, whose work reflects the human experience. His films strive to capture those fleeting moments that define us—joy, sorrow, love, and longing. Through his lens, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and the emotions that unite us are brought to life. His stories are not merely told; they are deeply felt, inviting audiences to connect more intimately with both the world and themselves.
Although he has spent much of his career working behind the scenes in the film industry, primarily leading the development and design of various Chinese-language film and television merchandise, turning to short film production marks a new chapter for him. This is a fresh attempt to share his personal reflections and feelings with the world.
In addition to his filmmaking, he is an accomplished designer and digital artist, having published over 50 art and design books across Asia, particularly in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. His work spans computer graphics, art, and design, with significant contributions to Chinese-language publications and movie merchandise, including design for “The Lord of the Rings” related books and merchandise in the Chinese-speaking market.
From film to digital, and now to AI, every technological breakthrough has redefined the way we create. However, our goal is not to let AI replace art, but to let it become a powerful tool in the creative process, seamlessly integrated. When the technology disappears from the frame, what remains will be the purest story and emotion.
Artist's Statement
This is an original short film, with the script and storyboard personally hand-drawn by me, the director, to ensure significant human involvement in the creation process. Although AI and 3D animation were utilized in post-production, I have remained committed to preserving the authenticity and emotional depth of the work, balancing the role of artificial intelligence with that of the human artist. Through this film, I hope to convey my unique style and sincere artistic dedication.
