Save the Darkness

We love to live in light 24/7. We decorate our cities, shopping, centers, public spaces, offices, homes, advertising boards and vehicles lights which illuminate the darkest night, this for seeking attention and attraction of visitors. In one sentence we could say that light makes our modern life possible. Our night life is not lighted by moon or stars but city lights.

The big but here is that excess of everything is harmful or dangerous. We generally study about 5 major pollution. Air, water, land, noise pollution, radioactive pollution and also including plastic pollution. But do you know that unwanted, inappropriate, unnecessary or excessive artificial lighting is also pollution. Yes... Light pollution as a major side effect of urbanization. This is doubling every year.
Almost 83% of global population lives in area contaminated by light pollution. Still we don’t talk about light pollution.

There are different types of light pollution;glare- completely blinded by the light, over illumination - excessive use of lights, sky glow - brightening of night sky. Over last 20yrs of periods light pollution is rising in different parts of india, new delhi , telangana , Maharashtra, Karnataka , uttar pradesh, west bengal, tamil nadu and Bangalore.
