PRINDIE: the Princeton Independent Film Festival grew from our passion for film and the desire to be a socially responsible and socially active film festival. First, we are a festival dedicated to quality filmmaking and storytelling, and it is our mission beyond that to be a place where inspiration meets and provokes action. We seek to provide the education and resources needed to enact positive change on the heel of being moved by the motion pictures we showcase. By giving filmmakers this unique platform, we’re able to bring their different and exciting perspectives to one of the most interesting international communities in the country, while also providing unique opportunities to effect meaningful change in the world.
Additionally, Prindie has three key areas of focus: woman and minorities in film, environmental issues, and the use of celluloid. We work to include films that highlight and celebrate these topics. **If you are a filmmaker who has shot a film using celluloid, please contact Ryan McDonald, our Director of Programming, at email@example.com for an entry fee waiver.**
Trophies awarded in all categories. **Please note that, unlike most festivals, our award for Best Performance may go to either a male or female actor.**
Additionally, our Best Short and Best Feature winners each take home $500 of awards money, and the Still Image Contest Winner (a free contest to any submitters in a given year) receives $50. Also, for the first time in 2018 - the winner of our short screenplay competition PrindiePlay will take home $100!
