Director Biography - Rory Ben Wilson

Rory Wilson studied acting in London and has worked as an actor for the last 4 years. During this time he began to take an interest in the world behind the camera, the writing, producing and directing. In 2018 Rory made a double release of two short films he had directed, 'Cicatrix' and 'Prince Jodie'. Both projects were made on a shoe string budget and with only a skeleton team, testing both patience and perseverance, but offering huge learning curves in how to craft a film and tell a story. Rory's next project is currently in development, doing both the writing and directing again, and he hopes to put all of his learnings and newfound knowledge of filmmaking to effective use!

Director Statement

Getting to the finish line with 'Prince Jodie' was definitely more of a marathon than a sprint. The pre-production and developing the script with scriptwriter Conor Bolton was fluid and fast moving, the filming process was fun and dynamic as ever, filming over weekends throughout a month and figuring out night shoots and travelling far and wide to get the right locations, but it was the post-production that was the real test. The project bounced between editors and started to lose momentum and the budget we had raised dried out. I knew the only way this project would see the light of day was if I took it upon myself to finish it off; the editing, sound design, colour grading and with the awesome musical genius Jim Sanger on board, the project came to life and started taking shape on screen. I'm really excited for the film to compete in festivals, and hope it gets a few screenings. Enjoy!
