Pride Films and Plays has a series of more targeted festivals this year, and for January, we are looking for projects about or by lesbians! If your film has a lesbian theme and/or characters, we really want to see it. The fest is part of an 8-week festival of women's programs, and we want to get our stories -- love stories, dramas, student films -- up on the screen!

Pride has monthly film fests for the first half of 2019, and your film might fit best into one of these themes: lesbian films (January), love stories (February), trans films (March), True Stories and Docs (April), erotics (May), Pride (June.)

If you have any questions, email pridefilmsandplays@gmail.com with "Films" in the subject line.

Entries are eligible to receive their official Chicago premieres at PFP's Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL. Based on the quality of submissions, one film and/or a series of shorts will be chosen for their premieres each month from November until May 2019. Q & A's will follow each screening.

The Jury Prize will be selected by the screening committee, which is comprised of professional filmmakers and members of the artistic ensemble of Pride Films and Plays.

The Audience Award will be selected by members of the audience by an anonymous poll taken after the screening of the films.

All films entered are subject to an entry fee. Early Bird Entry Fee is $10 until November 1st. Regular Entry Fee is $20 to December 15.

All submitted films without previous screenings in Chicago are eligible for consideration for the Pride Film Festival. Films should not exceed 25 minutes.

Applicants submitting films that contain significant non-English spoken dialogue must provide on-screen English subtitles.

Submitters bear the sole responsibility to clear all content of work submitted from any and all potential legal claims including, without limitation, claims based on libel, defamation, copyright, or trademark infringement. PFP disavows liability for any such actual or potential legal claims and submitters indemnify the PFP from any and all fees and expenses, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, that each of any of them may incur in connection such claims.

By submitting a film, you grant PFP permission to use film stills, descriptions, biographies, and other submitted materials for the purpose of festival promotion and publicity.

The screening committee (comprised of professional filmmakers and Pride Films and Plays' Company Members and Filmmakers Committee) will select LGBT films of all genres for screening.

Pride Films and Plays only accepts submissions via FilmFreeway.com.

  • I'm a little bit disappointed with this festival as I did not receive any email or any communication whatsoever on the festival and the screening of my film, no laurels, no email, nothing. I had no idea when my film was screening, nor any further details on the event. I'm grateful my film got selected, but I would've really wanted and appreciated an email with information on the screening and event. Communication did not exist at all, unfortunately.
