The Prairie Lights Film Festival is held at the historic Grand Theatre in Grand Island, Nebraska. The festival is dedicated to Nebraska made films and Nebraska filmmakers. Now in its seventh year, the PLFF has hosted some of the finest films by Nebraskans, including Alexander Payne (Nebraska, About Schmidt) and Jon Bokenkamp (NBC's The Blacklist) along with showcasing up and coming talent such as Emmy winning director Patrick Rea.
Non competitive. We don't believe in pitting filmmakers against each other. Our festival is just a showcase and it is our intention to put as many films as we can on a historic big screen and bring the magic of the movies to low budget filmmakers.
Note: WE DO NOT ACCEPT FOREIGN FILMS! Submissions MUST be by Nebraska filmmakers or made in the state of Nebraska. This film festival is dedicated to films from Nebraska. Please provide information regarding how your film relates to Nebraska. Without it, your film will be disqualified.
The Prairie Lights Film Festival accepts any and all films, be they short films, music videos, feature lengths, art, comedy, horror, and everything in between. We put no restrictions on content. However, this is a festival devoted to Nebraska made films and/or Nebraska born filmmakers. Only films created by Nebraska filmmakers (be they in state or out of state) will be considered.
