Director Statement

When I first began to create Power, I wanted to portray the effects of sexual assault in a different light than what is usually seen in media. Instead of a graphic retelling of a subject matter that is already widely understood, I wanted to focus on the person, their emotions, and the mental repercussions an event like this creates. Assault can be mentally exhaustive, causing contrasting feelings of anger, confusion, self-hatred, and even loneliness. Power is a portrayal of the journey through these emotions, and the often non-linear path to acceptance and growth. We hope to depict this story in a relatable, meaningful, and memorable way to our audience.
