Director Statement

"Porridge" is a story dedicated to Ryan's mother. After living in Toronto, Canada for years, Ryan has become acclimated to his new life. Even so, homesickness creeps in once and again, no matter how much he has changed, he can never change where he came from. Ryan based the story on his paradoxical homesickness, in which he misses home but he doesn't want to call his parents in fear that it would make the longing worse. Instead, he seeks remedy in little windows to his childhood such as trying to remake his mother's cooking.
