The seed from which Porcelain Jail germinated was a bitter feeling, a feeling of sadness and fascination when seeing what must have been an imposing oak, imprisoned in a small and beautiful porcelain container. And I felt anger because I was also a soul suffering in silence for everything that could not be with the difference that I had built that prison.
At that moment I understood that the melancholy in my heart was Mother Earth calling me to return to her womb, to melt into her womb and see the world for what it is, my own reflection.
In this story we see a parallel between Cercis and her bonsai, both enclosed in a small space that, although beautiful to look at, is unworthy of natural life. Its deformed branches, its inability to provide shelter to more beings and on a fragile pedestal with expectant eyes that give them their attention for the seconds that a flash lasts.
Psychological horror is our means to visually portray the hell experienced by a person suffering from agoraphobia, the constant struggle it represents for them to complete the simplest daily tasks, and the courage that comes with breaking the bonds towards freedom.
Porcelain Jail is fear and loneliness but also hope.
