Director Biography - T. Ryan Mooney

Director T. Ryan Mooney has been “That Guy” many times over his 18 year Stuntman career. That guy who got rammed by a goat for a gym commercial, that guy who got sucked up by a Tornado on Twisters, and that guy jumping out of a building on your favorite tv shows. Moving behind the camera, he wants to be that guy behind your next favorite action movie. He had a delightful time contriving unique ways to drown his friends for “Pool Toys.”

Director Statement

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
This project was willed to existence by Jason Davenport,
and as a long-time stuntman, I was delighted to step
behind the camera as a Director for him. His concept was
very alluring, giving us the opportunity to create exciting
and practical stunts as well as showcasing how many
different worlds we could manufacture out of one location.
I had a blast creating innovative ways to drown our
friends and toss them all about like our own action figures.
The excitement we had making this is palatable, and we
know you’ll enjoy getting lost in our little world as well.
Also, the handsome little boy is my son. Humblebrag.

PRODUCER’S STATEMENT
Pool Toys came about for the simple need to create
something challenging with a group of people that excelled
in water. Many of the group come from Cirque Du Soleil
water shows or films with heavy water stunts. The shared
experience of movement in water has a strong bond with the
cast and crew. There is a magically childlike movement we
found playing in the water I wanted to capture on screen.
When the idea hit of a child’s toys taking over our motor
control, we knew there was an idea worth the time and
effort.
As my first official short film I could not be prouder of the
work everyone on the team brought to this concept. Pitching
it was a simple pleasure “imagine a kids pool toys
becoming voodoo dolls for a couple stuntmen”, with that
statement everyone jumped on board and Pool Toys the
short became a reality.
