Director Biography - Josh Bayer

Josh is a writer, director, editor and cinematographer from West Bloomfield, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011, edited and art directed music videos for Giant Eel Productions (a startup company in Detroit specializing in 3D media) and wrote and directed an award-winning short film for Super Soaker in 2012. He has since migrated to Los Angeles, where he is currently filming and editing documentaries with the Oscar-winning production company MadPix Films. His recent credits include CONSOLE WARS (editor), THE S WORD (editor, camera), BEYOND LAUGHTER AND TEARS: A JOURNEY OF HOPE (editor, camera) and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF SUNSHINE (editor). His short films - ranging from the brazenly experimental to the darkly comedic - have appeared in festivals nationwide and are a source of joy among kindergartners, stay-at-home hipster dads, and food lovers.

Director Statement

This film was culled together from a year and a half of iPhone recordings as I sought to remind myself why I am alive, and to seek meaning in the daily grind. In the process of making this film, I discovered beauty in life, death, family, rebirth, nature, solitude and struggle.
