Award of Excellence Special Mention
As of the making of Polka., Andrew Brame was serving as a visual journalist in the United States Navy. During his service, he was selected for the Advanced Military Visual Journalism program at Syracuse University. After graduating from Syracuse with a master’s degree Television, Radio and Film, he deployed to the Amazon River as part of a humanitarian assistance mission to provide medical care to remote jungle villages. His coverage of the mission later earned him the “Best Operational Photo Series” award for the Department of Defense.
“Polka.” is the fourth short film that Andrew has written and directed and his third collaboration with Director of Photography Phillip Elgie. Their short film “Best Laid Plans” received an honorable mention at the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Arts.
Andrew is now in his first year of the Graduate Film program at New York University.
