Political Bodies
At a time when the far right is ascending to power around the world, the 2020 Brazilian municipal elections saw a surprising and unprecedented record of LGBT candidates. This film follows four young queer politicians during their electoral campaigns and reveals their struggle to affirm their rights to exist and be heard.

Director, screenwriter, actor and journalist, he is the founder of the production company Representa, focused on promoting diversity of bodies and narratives. He directed and created award-winning music videos for Tulipa Ruiz, Liniker, Letrux, Majur and Illy. He wrote the script for the second season of the documentary series Quebrando o Tabu, for GNT, in addition to TV shows by Regina Casé, Angélica and Fabio Porchat. Selected with the documentary Ecos on It's All True Festival (É Tudo Verdade), in 2009, he finished his second film as director and screenwriter, Political Bodies (Corpolítica), scheduled for release soon.
Our film seeks to awaken more political bodies and the awareness that it is through politics and the representation of LGBTQIA+ politicians that we will stop being the country that kills the most LGBTQIA+ in the world. We live in a country where, in addition, we have a President of the Republic who says that "gay son is a lack of beating". We can no longer admit, naturalize or relativize this fact, the murder of a parliamentarian like Marielle Franco or the exile of Jean Wyllys. Andréa, Erika, Monica and William, people who woke up and faced elections for the first time in 2020, bring us hope to change this tragic scenario.
