Mike has studied animation at SCAD for the past four years.
He is also a storyboard artist with a passion for comedic
television animation. In his time at SCAD, he has worked on
many films as a story artist, producer and animator. Playtime
is his first directing role. Mike loves working with others and
making things that are challenging and that go beyond what
we find familiar.
To me, the best senior film idea contains everything I love about animation: imaginative settings, creative creature designs, and absurd visual humor. Most importantly, any successful student film needs a character-driven story arc that emphasizes the conflict between the wants and needs of the protagonist, which, in turn, emphasizes the thematic message. As I was preparing to make Playtime, I knew it would have all of those things.
