Qin watched a documentary about herself with the director and began to re-examine herself.
As a senior student, she failed in all subjects like math, English and liberal art synthesis, moreover, she liked to smoke, drink, go clubbing and tatoo. While other people being nervous about the college entrance exam, she does not care.
The divorce of her parents brought about great change in her life. She was at school during the day and at bars at night. She craved for absolute freedom. She and her mother were always arguing and fighting endlessly, but she still regardeded her mother as her idol.However,she needed an excuse to meet her father in secret.
Now Qin studies in a college majoring in acting now. When she was watching herself in the documentary two years ago, she's like a live barrage, alternated between teasing and laughing.While watching the documentary, she had also left the theater because she could’t face it.
It was all recorded by our camera lens.

Director Biography - Jinfeng Gao

Gao Jinfeng, male, Shanxi native, now lives in Beijing, furher studied at BFA, a young director, senior cinematographer, has worked for ten years, and has participated in the shooting of many films and TV series.
As a drifter and dreamer, I came to Beijing from my hometown in 2007, untill now, it has been 15 years. Some people say that Beijing is a city making people chase their dreams，while others consider Beijing is a city of failure. Only a few people can achieve their goal in that place, and most of them only lead a befuddled life as if drunk or in a dream, do nothing, accomplish nothing, and live on the edge of this city. Sadly, they refuse to accept the truth and don't give up their dreams. They exclusivly insist to prove that they still have dreams and still can make it happen. They survive like the Northeast Tiger imprisoned in the zoo, and the reason for living may be the expection to return to the forest one day and recapture the throne. Maybe I am one of them.
So I especially want to show my feelings about Beijing, like enthusiasm, excitement, loneliness, hopelessness and despair, through people, events and images, so as to give some energy and warmth to every Beijing drifter who is persisting.
Beijing is like an animal world, and every northern drifter once wanted to be a northeast tiger.

Director Statement

In 2018, I met Qin,a girl born after the year 2000 in order to shoot a graduation short film for the Beijing Film Academy. Her pure and free temperament encouraged me to film her daily life, and she was preparing for the college entrance exam at that time. From 2019 to 2021, the process witnessed her rebellion, alternative and dilemma, while seeing her growth, transformation and perseverance. Her experience can be described by the two labels hanging in her bedroom: Play Girl,Ambitious Soul.
