The two Montreal based directors, Léandre Lambert Lefebvre and Justin Roy, share a creative chemistry that drives them to innovate as artists since meeting at University. They have collaborated on many short films since 2019, always trying to push the film medium further.
Plant was created while tree planting in British Columbia. We were both astonished and frustrated by the destroyed environment surrounding us and its post-apocalyptic aesthetics. While planting thousands of trees everyday, the iterated style and fast pace also came naturally. The aim was to convey a sense of urgency about climate change by exposing the aftermath of forest fires along with the darker reality behind the forest industry.
