Pinni

I directed this film, Pinni, after after my engineering when I decided to quit my job to pursue my passion. It was the time I was undergoing lot of confusions and scared about my future. Which later I understood was a part of quarter life crisis. Then later I observed a neighbourhood kid of around 7 years of age playing and having fun with all his heart and with a sense of freedom. Which took me back to my childhood days where simple and small games, activities and incidents made us happy, contend and we lived for ourselves completely. As we grow up without our realisation we start to worry on what others think and how we can impress the society. I wanted to make a point there is more to our life than the self-made rat race life we live in.This project took me 2 years and had to face many hurdles like writers block, Financial setbacks and even with location scouting,since the Film is majorly shot in building which is 80 years plus old, to capture the essence of old Mysore and give justice to the nostalgic feel of the movie. Finding those buildings and convincing them to rent for my budget was one of the tedious task which took 1year of the film making process. So in this time of location scouting I learnt editing and color grading since I knew I couldn't afford one. Even after 1st schedule had to take 1 month break to adjust money for shooting. Not from a film background, no prior experience of assisting anyone or any formal film education making short movies and watching YouTube videos has been my source of learning. Directing a child of 8 years to a senior actor of 68 years was a great learning task.Pinni has opened many new doors for me and has given me an opportunity to work as an assistant director for Hemanth M roa’s next movie saptha sagaradaache ello with Rakshith Shetty as a lead. Prominent kannada film director Rishab Shetty has agreed to online distribute the film under his banner
