Director Biography - Max Lincoln

I am a visual director with a love of heightened realism and intense colour.

My largest short THYME, was shot on 16mm and won BEST STUDENT SHORT at the West Virginia FILMMakers Festival. The short also screened across the globe at a variety of festivals. WOODS was popular online featuring on 1.4 and being the Daily Pick on Film Shortage. My short Winning Marge was selected to feature on Channel 4’s Random Acts (2018) and has been selected for the BAFTA / OSCAR / BIFA accredited Foyle Film Festival (2017).

Alongside directing, I have spent the past 6+ years working as an Art Director and in the art department for features, shorts and commercials. With clients including The Arctic Monkeys, Chemical Brothers, Virgin Media Ireland & Gap.

Director Statement

Growing up in East London, I’ve spent a lot of time exploring small galleries and often wondered about the artists behind the pieces. Are they friends, rivals, maybe lovers?

This was the starting point for Pineapple, a film about the balance of power in relationships, set to the backdrop of the art world.
