Kick Hoogewerf (1998) has lived most of his life just above Amsterdam in Beverwijk. Where, in addition to his education in IT, he was part of the creative collective Ozsipark. This collective focused on multidisciplinary works in fashion, music and video clips. During the active years of this collective, Kick was able to develop his visual language and then made the choice to go back to school and further develop his voice at the Willem de Kooning academy. He now focuses on productions with a rough, ironic side to them. He likes to extract the truth from humor and thinks it’s important not to make the film too perfect.
Pijpdroom started as a school project that offered space to go in all directions and it gave me the opportunity to let go of an idea that had been floating in my head for a long time. I was increasingly tripping over the fact that people were so quick to accept things from so-called internet gurus on podcasts or youtube. And if someone is sensitive to that, it can quickly develop into something else. That's what happens to Isaac, the main character when he can't get support through the regular channels other things come his way. And that is also what I want to warn about and show. What can the world look like if we follow those crazy advertisements on the corners of the internet? Does it have its advantages or should we be careful? Because it keeps intriguing, right?
