Although quite old, I'm very new to directing.
I've always been involved in creative jobs and looking for a new challenge I went to university at Sheffield Hallam to study filmmaking.
My background is photography and sound but I was drawn to directing and writing as I do like being in control. The combination of my skills and a desire to tell stories seemed to fit quite well.
Stories for me are a big part of what makes us human, we pass these adventures to each other everyday and they always spark ideas. My inspirations come from conversations and fleeting observations of life which are often much more interesting than any fiction.
Pie Village is a celebration of Yorkshire and Yorkshire food.
It's a fun exploration of the county with a neat twist. Taking inspiration from classics and contemporary films such as American Werewolf in London, The Matrix and Shaun of the Dead.
We're a proud bunch in Yorkshire, proud of the place, it's food and culture and I wanted to weave all of this into a short, fun, memorable film.
