Julia Annelies Karin Wycisk (* 1990) is a filmmaker and video artist. Since 2012 she has conceptualized and realized documentary and experimental films and music videos that takes interest in precariat, friendship and intersectional allyship. Her work includes collaborative art actions on location in Mexico, Hamburg, Israel and others. She supports journalist Nalan Sipar in building up an online format on migrant-German culture and politics and is currently working as a cinematographer for Kartik Singh's indie feature film "Amore XXL" in Italy. Together with Susanne Wilk, she directs and develops the theatre installation “Tag X”, which will premiere in September at the Ringtheater Berlin.
Pia was created within a couple of days during La Guarimba cinema residency Kabaret in Amantea, Calabria, where people get together to realize written scripts, work on new ideas or just go and experiment. As it is my first work as a director in the realm of ficion, it was an extraordinary time shooting. Meeting actress/writer Gloria Zingales I loved how simple and straightforward her story of Pia is, how the character allows herself to feel contradiction and excitement and sadness in just the course of one day and one night. We tell Pia as a tale of connections and momentum, as we celebrated it likewise as a crew that just gotten to know each others in the process of this short term film residency. Our actresses do not reveal the nature of their bond, also there is no punishment for them being open and curious and understand how fragile one's oh-so-sure path is. The beauty of the setting illustrates the beauty of sudden closeness and the magic of meeting someone really special when you least expect it.
