Phoenix International Genre Film Festival is an annual celebration of the best of genre cinema in Toronto. The festival takes place annually every Summer in Toronto. The festival brings together industry professionals in filmmaking and the genres of science fiction, fantasy and horror to encourage and support new, creative additions to cinema arts. The festival's goal is to present all forms of genre to the general public. We accept all genre films, including Horror, Action, Crime, Fantasy, Comedy, Romance, Science Fiction, Sports, Thriller, War, Western, Student, Covid, Women Empowerment, Documentary, Experimental, LGBTQ, Animation from all around the world. All the selected materials will be presented in a physical venue. But, this year, due to COVID concerns, our film festival will be conducted online
. In the regular years, the nominees are more than welcome to attend our annual screening even. During the physical event, the festival also allows the artists to present their hilarious or scary works in drawings and photos. The selected results will be shown in the festival's exhibition.

A) Eligibility Requirements

1. Films completed on or after Jan 1, 2015, are eligible for consideration
2. Films previously submitted to the Phoenix International Genre Film Festival are NOT eligible for consideration.
3. Feature-length films that are available for public online viewing are not eligible.
4. Films shown at private screenings not open to the public (for the crew, investors, etc.) are eligible.
5. All entries must be either in English or subtitled in English. Dialogue lists are not accepted.
6. Entrant confirms and warrants required legal authority to submit the entry to the Festival and to use all music, images, and content in the entry.

B) Submission Guidelines

1. Feature-length films must be submitted via an online screener hosted by Vimeo, DVD or Blu-ray disc.
2. Only complete entries (including fee payment and screener) will be considered.
3. Entrants are permitted to submit works-in-progress (i.e., without final colour correction or sound mixing), but please note that the programming committee will only consider the version submitted. Subsequent cuts or replacement copies will only be accepted at the request of the programming committee.
4. To qualify for student entry fee rates, the entrant must include proof of student status at the time of production (copy of student ID, transcript, etc.)
5. All films selected for the Phoenix International Genre Film Festival will screen on Bluray/DCP unless otherwise arranged by the submitting filmmaker and programming team.

C) Shipping (after selection)
The entrant must pay the cost of shipping an entry to the Festival. Collect or COD shipments will not be accepted. All international entries must be sent “free domicile” to the Festival office with all transportation charges, duties, and taxes prepaid by the shipper.

D) Judging & Selection

Films are selected for Festival presentation by the Phoenix International Genre Film Festival programming committee. If a movie is selected, the Festival office will contact the entrant by phone or email. The Festival does not provide feedback or screening notes to entries that are not selected.

All competitive film categories are judged during the Festival.

E) Entry Fees

The appropriate entry fee must accompany each entry. Entry fees are not refundable. Fees cover registration, registration notification, consideration by the programming department, and notification of the results. These fees may be paid by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or American Express).
